Best Basetao Spreadsheet FindsSorting the doubts before you order

Where to ask

Getting help with a Basetao find

Four official doors, one set of service hours, and the twelve questions that come up most often when someone is deciding whether to order.

The hours are narrower than the internet is

Service times are stated in the site footer as 09:30 to 20:30, Monday to Saturday, on China time. A question sent on Saturday evening waits until Monday, and a question sent while you are awake in Europe or the Americas is usually being read the following working morning.

This matters for one thing in particular: the seven day return window runs on calendar days, not on working days. If the arrival photographs show a problem, raise it the same day rather than at the weekend.

Frequently asked questions about judging a find

Twelve questions, each answered from a Basetao page rather than from experience or hearsay. Where two official pages disagree, both readings are given.

Can I get an item measured before it ships?

Yes, and this is the most useful thing on the site for anyone buying clothing. The Basetao home page lists a measurement service: if you are not sure a garment fits, the warehouse team will measure it, with the handling fee stated as 1.5 CNY. Ask for named measurements in centimetres rather than for "the measurements".

Does Basetao check whether the colour matches the photos?

No. Colour discrepancy is named as outside the inspection scope on the inspection standards page, twice. You get arrival photographs, which show you the item under warehouse lighting, but a shade unlike the listing is not treated as a defect and is not a reason the parcel is held.

Will they turn an electronic item on to test it?

No. For electronic and digital products the inspection is limited to external appearance. Accessories are not counted, the device is not powered on, and the same paragraph adds that functional issues are therefore not covered by the insurance policy either.

How long do I have to return something?

The return policy says most sellers accept a return or exchange within seven days from the day Basetao receives the parcel, not from the day you see the photographs. The item must be in original condition, you pay the return shipping, and the home page notes that it happens only with the permission of the seller.

What does remove packaging cost me?

The return option. The policy page states that an item is not in original condition if you chose the remove packaging option when ordering. It saves volume on the parcel, so it is a real trade, but make it knowingly.

My item arrived and has photos but still shows as Ordered. Why?

The help centre says this usually means the agent found a flaw on your item, and tells you to check the messages and the pictures. If there is nothing there, ask them to move it to the right category.

How long can it sit in the warehouse while I decide?

The help centre puts free storage at 120 days. That is long enough to ask a question, get an answer in writing and still ship inside the same window.

What if I only have a picture of the thing I want?

Use image mode on the search box first. If that fails, the Search for me form takes a picture URL and an item name, both required, plus free text for anything else you know. Its page states a fee of 1 CNY refunded if the item is not found, while the home page describes the same service as carrying no additional cost.

Why did my parcel weigh more than the items?

Some shipping lines charge on volumetric weight. The help centre describes measuring the longest sides with a triangle ruler at packing, comparing actual against volumetric, and charging on the larger. It also notes that not all lines use it and not all use the same divider.

Can Basetao buy anything at all?

No. It names knives, pure batteries, imitation brands, food, liquid, powder, chemical substances, flammable and explosive materials, and animal and plant specimens as things it does not facilitate. The shipping side adds gun shaped products, lighters, computers, laptops, phones and anything over 1.5 m.

Do you take a cut if I order through your links?

Yes. Links to basetao.com on this site are referral links, and that is how the guide is funded. It costs you nothing extra and it does not change what we write, which is why the exclusions on this site are quoted rather than glossed.

Can you check on my order for me?

No. We are not Basetao. We cannot see your order, change it, refund it or chase it. Use the message bubble on the item itself, or the official email, which is on the help page.

What to do when a page leaves you unsure

Ask, and keep the answer. Every number on this site came off a page that can be edited tomorrow, and support replies are the only version of a policy that is attached to your order.

If you find that an official page now says something different from what we have quoted, tell us. Corrections are the one kind of email we always act on, and the date on every claim here exists so that a mismatch is easy to spot.

For account-specific help, use the official contact routes in the help centre. This independent guide cannot access your order.

The words you will see, and what they stand for

Three letters do most of the work in this corner of the internet, and none of them are Basetao terms. They come from the forums, and you will meet them in a thread long before you meet them on an order page.

QC is the quality check: the photographs taken when your item reaches the warehouse. Basetao states they are free and normally uploaded the same day the item arrives. GL and RL stand for green light and red light, the verdict other shoppers give when you post those photographs and ask whether to ship or return. They are a crowd opinion, not a grade from anybody official, and the crowd cannot see the stitching any better than you can.

Two more worth knowing. A haul is one parcel holding several orders, which is why combining matters. Batch is the seller's own word for a production run, and since it is the seller writing it, nothing in the inspection confirms it. Treat it as a label, not a fact.

The one piece of official vocabulary that catches people out is on the right. An item can have its QC pictures and still sit in the Ordered section, and the help centre says what that usually means: the agent found a flaw and is waiting for you to look.

Money

The rate you actually pay, and where it is set

Every number Basetao quotes you is in yuan. The goods are priced in yuan by the seller, the service fee and the customs fee are in yuan, and the shipping fee is in yuan. Exactly one figure is not: the final total. You can see the seam in the official calculator below, where every charge is labelled in yuan and only the total is labelled in dollars.

That single column is where currency conversion happens, and it happens twice. Once there, so you can read the estimate, and again at payment, where the method you pick does its own conversion. The About page lists foreign credit cards, PayPal, Sofort, Giropay, WesternUnion, eNETS, Bancontact, Multibanco, crypto and Alipay. Those are not one exchange rate. They are ten different ones, each with its own spread and its own fee, and the cheapest route for a 300 yuan order is not always the cheapest for a 3,000 yuan one.

We are not going to quote you a markup, because we have not measured one. The independent fee surveys that do publish agent-by-agent conversion figures cover thirty-four agents as of 2026-10-08, and Basetao is not one of them. So if you find a page stating what Basetao adds on top of the mid-market rate, ask where that number was measured. The honest method is the boring one: run the calculator for your actual basket, then compare the dollar total against what your card or wallet actually takes.

Official notices, and telling a current one from an old one

Basetao publishes its rules as a set of policy pages rather than as dated announcements, and that is the problem. None of the pages we read carried a visible last-changed date. A rule can therefore change without anything on the page telling you it did, which is why every figure in this guide is printed with the date we read it rather than presented as permanent.

The prohibited list is the notice to re-read, and the page says so itself in the first paragraph: the examples given do not cover all possibilities, and the categories extend beyond what is specified. An open-ended list is not something you memorise once. It is something you check against the specific thing in your cart.

Read the counterfeit card on that page before you spend an afternoon shopping. It is the clearest statement of a boundary anywhere on the site, and it is stated by the agent, not by us.
